HOLISTIC

Supporting the Health & Wellbeing of Women and Children in the Peak District.

Hello.

I'm Charlotte: Mum & Reflexologist.  Since the birth of my first child I've been passionate about Holistic healthcare, I found it fascinating that our bodies are often able to heal themselves with the right tools. So I decided to train to become a qualified Reflexologist (including maternity, pre & post-natal and facial & cranialreflexology) which would enable me to help others to feel well, naturally.

What is Reflexology?

It is a non-invasive treatment suitable for everyone from newborn and up. This complementary therapy can help promote deep relaxation and reduce stress, based on the theory that different points on the hands, feet, face & head correspond with different areas of the body and when those areas are worked, balance is restored. Reflexology won't cure your condition but it will enable your body's own self-healing mechanism to function as well as it can.  By applying specialised massage techniques using the thumbs, fingers and knuckles, energy blockages can be cleared. After just one session you will feel rebalanced.

As a Reflexologist, I cannot diagnose your ailments. If you are unwell, it is important you seek help from a medical professional. However, reflexology treatments can help with certain ailments and conditions once they are diagnosed.

For more information, please feel free to contact me. I post lots of information on the benefits of Reflexology and how it may help different conditions over on my Instagram and Facebook pages.

My treatment room is based in the beautiful village of Youlgrave, not far from Bakewell.

Reflexology is not a cure for symptoms or illness. Rather, reflexology supports the body's ability to heal itself.

Anonymous

At the initial treatment, a full consultation and history will be taken. The treatment takes place on a reclining Lafuma chair but I also have an armchair and footstool that can be used (this is always used during pregnancy).

If your child is receiving a treatment, I will always ask their permission before starting.

They can choose their own music, ask any questions while I treat them, read a book or simply sit quietly and relax. Whatever they feel comfortable doing. This is a great time for you to relax, too.

I recommend wearing comfortable clothing and will only ever ask you to remove your shoes and socks for foot reflexology. For facial and cranial reflexology you will need to remove your glasses and earrings. Please don't worry if your feet aren't perfectly manicured, Reflexologists are only interested in how your feet feel, not if your nails are painted! I ask that you come make-up free if you're having a treatment on your face.

How many treatments will I need?

Reflexology has a cumulative effect meaning the more treatments you have, the greater the effects likely to be experienced. A course of treatments is recommended and many people find it beneficial to have 4-6 sessions weekly or fortnightly, followed by 'maintenance' sessions once a month. You can also book sessions individually.

Treatments

Cranial Reflexology

This holistic healing technique focuses on the stimulation of specific points (much like foot & facial reflexology) on the cranium to promote overall health & wellbeing.

This treatment helps to decompress the bones of the head & releases pressure on the cranial nerves, tight fascia & blocked lymph vessels. It incorporates cranial rhythm reading, occipital release and cranial reflex point stimulation. Balance to the cranial rhythm is restored

Working so closely to the brain, this treatment works quickly and is safe from birth.

Cranial reflexology can be beneficial for:

Fibromyalgia, Headaches, Neuralgia

Post-concussion syndrome, Trauma, Stroke patients

Temporomandibular joint syndrome, Bruxism

Alopecia, Insomnia, Stress & anxiety

It regulates the nervous system, improves digestion & circulation and stimulates the body's natural healing processes.

Maternity & Postnatal Reflexology

Reflexology can be extremely beneficial both during pregnancy and the fourth trimester. As well as helping stress and anxiety and general well-being, reflexology can also help with symptoms like morning sickness and nausea, heartburn, constipation, back pain, SPD  and emotional responses. I offer treatments from the second trimester and beyond.

In the later stages of pregnancy (37 weeks onwards) reflexology can help prepare the body for labour and birth. It also provides space to relax and rest during this time of anticipation.

After birth, treatments can aid post-partum healing, hormone imbalances, breast milk production and boost your immune system as well as encouraging relaxation. Your baby is welcome at your appointment, it's a beautiful way to spend time bonding.

It can relieve TMJ, headaches, migraine & Bell's Palsy.

"I'm a new convert to reflexology after having a couple of treatments with Charlotte. I find it imcredible relaxing and has already helped with symptoms I was experiencing. Highly recommend to anyone seeking a new approach to wellbeing and self care. Charlotte is very knowledgeable and will put you at ease immediately."

Google review

"A very relaxing experience from the minute I walked into the ambient treatment room with amazing results. After suffering perimenopausal night time pins and needles and numbness for the last two years waking 4-5 times a night regardless of being on hrt, after 1 treatment with Charlotte I am now sleeping through the night like a baby. I cannot recommend her session enough."

Google review

"Charlotte has magic hands! Her knowledge and practical ability to source where the problem areas are are not only fascinating but help so much in restoring balance. I can't praise Reflexology as a treatment enough, especially if Charlotte is working her magic on you."
